Our Top Ten Blackboard 9.1 Features
1 New User Interface
The new interface makes it easier to add information from different sources and arrange in ways that are more meaningful to learners. The updated look-and-feel includes drop-down menus and contextual help options.
2 Simplified Tool Management
Course tools are managed in a single interface with full control over how tools are presented to users. Tools can be added as direct links on the course menu, embedded with other course content, or made available on a central Tools page for easy access.

3 New Customizable Course Home Page
You can set the course entry page instead of going straight to announcements. The new design allows students to view information, see what has changed in the course since they last visited, identify which items require attention and which are past due or due in the near future.

4 Improved Assignments
Instructors can now choose to deploy Assignments to all students individually or to groups of students. This allows instructors to assign a single grade to all students within a group. Instructors can allow students to submit multiple attempts for the same assignment. Each attempt can be individually graded.
5 Improved Control Panel Access
Course content creation and editing tools are embedded throughout the course site. You can add content or create assessments without accessing the Control Panel. Click on the "Edit Mode" (top right corner) to toggle between student view and instructor view. Use the drag and drop function to quickly change order of items. Drop and drag icon = drag drop arrow
6 Improved Groups Features
Instructors can create groups by specifying number of groups required or number of students you would like in each group. Students can be enrolled automatically, manually, or can self-enroll. Group members can create Discussion Boards, Blogs, and Tasks to track their progress.
7 Blogs and Journals
New collaboration tools put the student at the center of the learning process. These tools enable public reflection with peer review or private reflection with teacher review and both are integrated with the Grade Center. Students engage more by exploring topics and voicing their opinions.
8 Improved Grade Center
Navigation is easier. Smart View options allow for filtering categories or students you want to view. Items in the Grade Center can be color-coded to let you know which items are in progress, which need grading, or even identify students experiencing problems.
9 Wikis
Wikis can be made available to an entire course, groups, or individuals. Instructors can view a participation summary. You can compare of one version with another to see a student’s contributions over time.
Enhanced Text Editor
The text editor is used for general course building as well as student and instructor posting. In addition to controls for entering and formatting text, equations, and HTML; the new text box editor allows you to embed non-text components such as video, audio, and images.
