What is Course Links?

Course Links are used to link to other items within a course. The Add Course Link feature allows instructors to link to any item that appears in the course map from anywhere else in Blackboard. For example, an instructor may create a Discussion Board where students can discuss the class readings. A link to this Discussion Board may be added right after a specific posted article. Adding course links also allows instructors to easily refer to previous documents, or the syllabus, which may reside in different sections of the course.

Where to Manage Course Links?

To add, modify, or delete course links, you need to go to the Content Area you want to manage the course links. To do so,

1. Click on Control Panel link on the left side of the course site.
2. Click on the name of desired Content Area under Course Areas section.

How to Add Course Links?

1. Go to the desired Content Area by following above steps.
2. Click on the Add  Course Link icon to open the Add Course Link page.
3. Complete the page. Note: The link location field is required. Click on the Browse button to open the course map to locate the item you want to link to.
4. In the Option section, choose Yes for Do you want to make the course link visible if you want this course link to be accessible to students.
5. Click on the Submit button at the end of this page.

How to Modify or Delete an Existing Course Link?

1. Go to the desired Content Area by following above steps.
2. Click on the Modify or Remove button next the Course link to Modify or delete the course link.

1. Can I link to the email feature from the Content Areas?

No, you can only link to items that appear in the course map. These are typically documents (uploaded files), forums, quizzes and folders.

2. If I create a course link, is the item removed from the original location?

No, the feature simply creates a link to the item. The item stays in its original location.

3. Can I link to an entire folder or does it have to be an individual file?

You can link to anything that appears within the course map; this includes folders as well as documents.
