What are Tasks?
The Tasks page organizes tasks (e.g. projects or activities), defines task priority, and tracks task status. Instructors can post tasks to users participating in their course. The Tasks tool is especially useful when working on a large course project. It does a great job of separating all the tasks needed to complete a project.
How to Add a Task?
- Click on the Control Panel at the left side of the course site.
- Click on the Tasks link under the Course Tools section to open the Tasks page.
- Click on the Add Task button on the left top of the page to open the Add Task page.
- In the Task Information section, fill in the desired text and choose the due date from the pull-down list. Instructor can assign the task to specific students by listing them in the Description.
- In the Task options, select the priority from the pull-down list.
- Click on the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
How to Modify or Delete an Existing Task?

- To modify a task, click on the Modify button to open the Modify Task page.
- Modify the task then click on the Submit button to save the change.
Question about Tasks?
- Can I add my own personal tasks items?
Yes, you can have Blackboard track your personal tasks items as well. However, you do not want to put these into a course. To add personal tasks items:
- Click on the My SDSU tab at the top of the page.
- Click on the Tasks link under the Tools section on the left hand side of the screen.
- Add personal tasks items using the directions above.
Note: These tasks will be seen only by you and not by your class. To view, you must enter the Tasks page from the My SDSU tab, which will show all your personal tasks as well as all of your course tasks.
- How to sort the order of the tasks?
Click on the Priority, Subjects, or Due date link at the top of the task list. The tasks will be sorted according the priority, name, or due date.
