Instructional Design Tips

The I CARE Method for Course Design

If you care to follow a pedagogically sound model for online teaching and learning, you may wish to organize your content via the I CARE System. The I CARE System provides a consistent structure to learning modules and helps to clarify instructional goals and activities. I CARE is an acronym for Introduction, Connect, Apply, Reflect, and Extend. Using the I CARE system will help you remember and apply elements of good teaching to your learning modules. Also, it provides a framework that helps students to focus their learning efforts wisely. You can easily create folders within the Course Documents section to mimic the structure that I CARE recommends.
