Placing YouTube Videos and YouTube Playlists in Blackboard

This is a great technique for embedding (a form of linking) YouTube videos in your Blackboard courses.

How to Place a Single YouTube Video in Blackboard

Note, not all YouTube videos can be embedded.

1. Select the Video clip from youtube.com.

2. Click on the Embed HTML Link and Highlight and Copy the HTML code.

3. From your Blackboard control Panel, Click on the Content Area where you wish to add your new file (Course Documents, Assignments, etc.) and click on the Add Item link.

4. Right click and paste the html text into the Visual textbox editor.

5. Click Submit.


YouTube Playlist in Blackboard

Using this technique, you can create a playlist of videos in YouTube and embed them in Blackboard. If you add or change your playlist, the change happens automatically in Blackboard!

Note, you must have an account in YouTube to create a playlist.

Step A. Obtain a YouTube account and create a playlist (video tutorial)

 

Step B. Obtain the code needed to embed playlist in Blackboard (video tutorial)

Step C. Placing (embedding) the playlist in Blackboard

  1. Within the course, click Control Panel at left
  2. From the options choose Course Documents
  3. Select the Add Item icon
  4. Under Content Information
  5. Enter a Name
  6. Paste code you copied from rssinclude into the Text area
  7. Select the HTML radio button
  8. Click Submit
  9. Click Ok
