Associate Director – Learning Environments and Faculty Support
Rudy serves as the Associate Director of Instructional Technology Services. In this role, Rudy is responsible for leading a multi-talented team to creatively support various applications, help desks and services that support teaching and learning. He is also responsible for coordinating and transforming learning environments with innovative design, layout, flexible furniture and technology.
Rudy is actively involved in San Diego State University’s Virtual Immersive Teaching & Learning (VITaL) initiative, promoting virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and 360º video immersive tools for use across the SDSU pedagogical spectrum. He works with campus partners in the decision-making process for renovating general assignment classrooms to include increased faculty and student input, and a research-based approach to designing campus learning environments. Rudy ensures the proposal process reflects emerging university priorities, development of a complete budget, identification of lifecycle funding, and annual presentations to university leadership.

Rudy previously owned and managed a seafood restaurant, but now he enjoys cooking for his family and friends.
