STAT 119 Mentor
Hi, My name is Joanna. This is my 4th year at SDSU majoring in Kinesiology: Pre-Physical Therapy. I am from Temecula, CA but I spent most of time in the San Diego area growing up. So, for me San Diego has always felt like home. Although I stayed close to home, I still love to travel and explore new places. I have mainly traveled around North America, some of Europe, and Japan. This will be my 3rd year being involved with the program, but it is my first semester as the mentor for Stat 119 team. I am very excited to be a mentor this semester and be able to continue supporting fellow leaders! My favorite thing about SI is that it is a safe space to make mistakes as you solidify concepts. Also, you get to work alongside your peers while tackling topics that may seem difficult to answer. Don’t study alone, come to a session and work with other students. I hope to see you there!
Hi! My name is Julia Contractor and I am the Math Mentor for Math 150,151, and 254 this semester. This is my first semester as a SI Mentor, but I was an SI Leader for Math 151 for five semesters. I am majoring in Aerospace Engineering and will be graduating in May. I am originally from Simi Valley, California and I love spending time outside and I am a member of SDSU’s Rocket Project which just had a successful rocket launch! I love SI and think it is a great tool for students to utilize its free, voluntary, and so much fun!
PSY 101 Mentor
Hiya! My name is Kelly. I’m originally from the SF bay area, but I graduated last year from SDSU with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Counseling & Social Change. I am now a first year in SDSU’s Marriage and Family Therapy program (so if you’re interested in going to grad school for psychology, I would be happy to help you out!). After five semesters of being a PSY 101 SI Leader, I have spent this academic year being an SI Mentor. So you’ll see me in the back of sessions or just walking around campus. Feel free to say hello and thanks for checking us out!
CHEM 100 Mentor
Hi there! My name is Crista, I am a senior Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences major. I am from Los Angeles, CA and love anything active, trying new restaurants and traveling. This is my 6th(!) semester with the SI program. My favorite thing about SI is how creative we can get with implementing active learning strategies. I was a CHEM-100 leader for 4 semester and have been the CHEM-100 Mentor since this past Fall. I love working with the whole team to make the program the best it can be and am so proud of my amazing CHEM-100 leaders. Hope to see you in sessions!
PHYS 195 & EE 210 Mentor
Hello! My name is Sara Kouyoumjian and I’m from Torrance, CA. I am a senior Electrical Engineering major and I will be graduating this semester. This is my fifth semester with the SI program. My first three semesters I was a SI Leader for Linear Algebra (Math 254). Last semester I was a Mentor for the Math disciplines and EE 210. This semester I am a Mentor for Physics 195 and EE 210. You may see me observing SI Sessions throughout the semester 🙂 In my free time I love to do yoga and hang out with my friends.
CHEM 200/202 Mentor
Hi, my name is Regan Mukpik and I am the CHEM 200/202 Mentor this year. I am majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and my disciplines are Kinesiology, Public Health and Spanish. This is my third year at SDSU but I am originally from Monument, Colorado. This is my second semester as a Mentor after previously being an SI Leader for CHEM 200/202 for two semesters. In the future I want to go to medical school and get my Master’s in public health. Chemistry is a big part of my major and medical school prerequisites so I chose to go to SI Sessions as much as I could. SI is really a great opportunity to get some extra help in a laid-back setting. Outside of school I love travelling, music and going to concerts, and spending time with my friends and family.
CHEM 232 Mentor
Hi my name is Ryan and this will be my third semester in SI, and my first semester as the Chem 232 mentor! I am looking forward to a great semester and making our sessions the best they can be. I am a third-year biology student pursuing a career in medicine. We have a great team of leaders this year and I hope to see you in their sessions often!
