Fall 2024 Training
We are pleased to share the Fall 2024 Instructional Technology training schedule below. In particular, we want to highlight the newly available campus-wide access to Poll Everywhere for all faculty, staff, and students. In addition to the training outlined below, the Canvas Support Homeroom provides more information about how to use Poll Everywhere as an audience response system to enhance student engagement in your courses, as well as a tool to add interactivity to conference presentations, faculty/staff meetings, etc.
For your convenience, you can click on the dates below to RSVP and add individual sessions to your calendar. All training will be held via Zoom unless otherwise noted. You can also view the training links via the IT Services Training Hub.
- 9/6/24 1PM-2PM - What’s New in dCanvas: Explore the latest Canvas features, including a redesigned discussion board, personalized module assignments, an updated rubric design, and much more!
- 9/13/24 1PM-2PM - Get Started with Poll Everywhere: Introduction to SDSU's exciting new audience response system to take attendance and create interactive polling activities that are all seamlessly synced in Canvas.
- 9/20/24 1PM-2PM - Writing Assignments & AI: Choose effective AI-assisted assignment strategies, manage workflows, and establish AI-use policies with outcomes-oriented feedback to students' higher-level critical thinking, creativity, and learning.
- 10/4/24 1PM-2PM - Active Learning in Canvas with Lucidchart: Leverage Lucid's diagramming and visual collaboration tools directly within Canvas to create visual assignments that both engage students and foster a deeper cognitive connection with course topics.
- 10/11/24 1PM-2PM - Universally Design your Course with AI: Delve into the best use of university-provided AI tools to both improve course accessibility and design innovative assignments aligned with Universal Design for Learning principles.
- 10/18/24 1PM - 2PM - Introduction to Qualtrics: Explore the fundamentals of survey design, application of survey distribution methods, and creation of detailed and customized reports in Qualtrics.
- 11/1/24 1PM-2PM - Academic Applications of AI (AAAI) Micro-credential Informational Workshop: Learn about a micro-credential program at SDSU that prepares faculty for responsible uses of generative artificial intelligence.
- 11/8/24 11AM-12PM - Learning Glass Studio: Elevate your course content and boost student engagement with our transparent whiteboard recording space, perfect for visually demonstrating complex concepts in STEM courses.
- 11/15/24 12–1:30PM - Canvas Cafe: Look, Mom, what I made with AI!: Join faculty and students to discuss creative projects and assignments made with AI, the tools they used, and how you can implement them in your courses.
