In early June, by invitation from the Vice Principal for Teaching & Learning at the University of Glasgow, Drs. James and Rebecca Frazee gave an address and led a learning space design workshop for university faculty, leadership, and personnel. In 2019, the University of Glasgow (est. 1451) will begin an unprecedented campus expansion. The 10-year plan will increase the campus footprint by 25 percent, adding dozens of technology-rich and flexible learning spaces to support the work of innovators and future generations.
James Frazee, Senior Academic Technology Officer and Director of Instructional Technology Services (ITS) went on to present at Future Edtech, the education component of London’s Tech Week, where he shared SDSU’s vision and practice around Immersive Technologies. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about SDSU’s Virtual Immersive Teaching and Learning (VITaL) space, and the ways augmented, virtual, and mixed realities take students and faculty to pedagogical places they could not have previously imagined. “Sharing our work at these events and speaking with colleagues in the United Kingdom is helping to cement San Diego State as a recognized leader in the design, development, and assessment of learning environments, experiences and resources that promote student learning and success.”
